Last night Erling Haaland’s hat-trick for Borussia Dortmund kept the pressure on Arsenal in the race for Champions League qualification. Haaland's early years


Erling Braut Haaland was born in Leeds England to Norwegian international footballer Alf Inge Haaland and his wife Gry Marit Haaland née Andersson. The family moved back to their native Norway when Erling was two years old. He has an older sister Janne Marie. His maternal grandfather is Swedish former professional footballer Lennart Nacka Andersson.



Haaland started his career with Bryne FK of the Norwegian third division before moving to Molde FK of the Eliteserien in 2017. After one season with Molde he transferred to Austrian champions RB Salzburg for a fee of €5 million. He scored 29 goals in 27 appearances across all competitions for Salzburg during the 2019–20 season. This included scoring eight goals in six UEFA Champions League group stage matches, as well as a hat-trick against Belgian side Genk in the round of 16.


His time at Dortmund



Haaland's time at Dortmund has been nothing short of prolific as he's scored an impressive 43 goals in just 40 appearances for the club. Given his young age and potential it's no surprise that Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing him. However with Dortmund currently sitting atop the Bundesliga table and Haaland being a key player for them it remains to be seen if they will be willing to part with him anytime soon.


The hat-trick against Arsenal


Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland netted a hat trick against Arsenal in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday keeping the pressure on the Gunners in Group F.

The 20 year old Norwegian has been in scintillating form this season and he took his tally to eight goals in just four appearances in all competitions with his treble at the Emirates Stadium.

Haaland started the scoring in the ninth minute when he converted a low cross from Jadon Sancho before adding a second with a composed finish after being put through on goal by Julian Brandt.

He then completed his hat trick in style 10 minutes from time latching onto a pass from Sancho before firing an unstoppable shot into the top corner from outside the box.

The result leaves Arsenal third in Group F on four points two behind leaders Dortmund and one adrift of second placed Sporting Lisbon.


What the future holds for Haaland


What the future holds for Haaland is a question that many people are asking the answer may lie in his potential for a player who is only 19 years old he has shown great maturity and composure on the pitch which has helped him score some important goals his physicality is also an asset as he is able to hold off defenders and create space for himself. With these attributes it is likely that Haaland will continue to develop into a top class striker in the future he could become one of the best players in the world and win multiple trophies with his club and country.
